Opt-in for the Beef Carbon Reduction (BCR) Scheme which supports NI farmers in increasing efficiency and lowering emissions

The Beef Carbon Reduction (BCR) scheme, introduced by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) earlier this year, is a new payment support programme for beef farmers in Northern Ireland.

The scheme encourages farmers to reduce the slaughter age of finished cattle, improving efficiency in the local beef industry and cutting greenhouse gas emissions.

A recent system update has added new animal information screens, helping farmers monitor their animal data.

Farmers have until Tuesday 31 December to opt-in.

Check the full eligibility criteria and apply.
