This scheme aims to prevent business crime and increase engagement in the business community

Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council has launched the Business Watch Initiative which aims to increase the prevention of business crime and reduce the fear of crime in the community.

Bringing together local businesses, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), and Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP), the Business Watch Initiative operates in a similar way to a Neighbourhood Watch scheme.

It is run for, and by, members of the business community, and is supported by the PSNI and the PCSP which makes it easier to share information about criminal, anti-social and suspicious behaviour in the local area to prevent crime.

Membership benefits

There are a number of benefits to being a member of the Business Watch Initiative:

  • access to Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Text Alert, which gives you early information regarding crimes or suspicious behaviour
  • you will receive a visit from the PSNI Crime Prevention Officer who will provide advice on how to report suspicious activity as well as giving you information about security products that reduce theft and increase the chance of offenders being caught
  • access to free Business Watch signage, free counterfeit pens and free Safeshop training
