Call for input into current trading arrangement with South Korea

The Department for International Trade (DIT) is seeking views on a new enhanced trade deal with South Korea.

These views will help inform an approach to start negotiations for a free trade agreement (FTA) with South Korea in 2023.

UK businesses currently benefit from a trade deal with South Korea but an enhanced deal will aim to boost trade measures including breaking down barriers and opening up access for UK firms to the South Korean market.

Ahead of agreeing a UK mandate for these negotiations, the Department for International Trade is seeking input from members of the public, businesses, and other interested stakeholders to inform the negotiation objectives and an understanding of the economic, environmental and social impacts of a bespoke FTA with South Korea.

Respond to the consultation.

To assist stakeholders in Northern Ireland who are considering responding to DIT’s call for input, the Department for the Economy have provided an analysis of trade and overview of potential opportunities and barriers between Northern Ireland and South Korea.

The consultation closes at 11:45pm on 2 February 2023
