Consultation | Statutory Sick Pay

News article

Employers encouraged to have their say on proposals to strengthen Statutory Sick Pay (SSP).

The Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) has launched the Making Work Pay: Strengthening Statutory Sick Pay consultation. The consultation looks at the percentage replacement rate for those earning below the current rate of Statutory Sick Pay.

Although SSP is not a social security benefit, the arrangements for SSP fall under the scope of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits (Northern Ireland) Act 1992 and within the remit of the Department for Communities (DfC). DfC has agreed to the inclusion of references to Northern Ireland in DWP communications and in the consultation.
