Following simple steps and checks when driving vehicles can help reduce deaths and injury in the workplace

The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) is promoting the Drive Danger Out campaign.

This campaign highlights the HSENI’s ongoing inspection programme which is aimed at reducing the number of people killed or injured as a result of incidents involving workplace transport.

A wide variety of transport vehicles may be found within workplaces. Causes of transport incidents may include:

  • being struck by a moving vehicle
  • falling from a moving vehicle
  • being stuck in a vehicle which turns over

With this campaign, HSENI wants everyone driving for work or who may be working around vehicles to stop and think about what they are doing. The Safe Site, Safe Vehicle and Safe Driver messages highlight the need to ensure that everything around you, everything in your vehicle and all your actions are set to avoid incidents or accidents.

To support employers, HSENI has provided advice and guidance along with inspection proformas detailing key aspects of workplace transport safety for each industry.
