Event to help employers promote more and better jobs for disabled people

Equality Commission event looks at the recruitment and selection process with best practice examples from local employers.

The Equality Commission for Northern Ireland, Belfast City Council, and Northern Ireland Union for Supported Employment will present a session designed to assist employers promote positive action and reasonable adjustments in respect of employees with disabilities, under the Disability Discrimination Act.

The event will include a range of speakers who will focus on the good practice and the support services and programmes available to employers. The event will present useful guidance and information on:

  • Positive action measures in recruitment and procurement
  • Pre-employment training and work trials for disabled people
  • Social value measures, ring-fencing jobs, and retention
  • Lived experiences of disabled people finding employment

This event will be of particular interest to those working in human resources and diversity and inclusion managers/officers.
