Funding opportunity for Northern Ireland's creative industries

Future Screens NI has opened a funding cycle to support innovation in Northern Ireland's film, animation, games, and immersive technology sectors.

Funded by the Department for Communities, and running from 1 July 2024 to 1 July 2025, this cycle offers:

  • 74 Proof of Concept awards of £20,000 each
  • a limited number of £50,000 Pre-Commercialisation awards

Proof of Concept awards are available for projects focused on research and development with a clear social impact, potential sectoral benefits, and the ability to create jobs or contribute to the regional economy.

Pre-Commercialisation awards are for projects that have already completed the proof of concept phase and have a strategy for market realisation.

All applicants must be resident in Northern Ireland.

Applications begin with an expression of interest, allowing applicants to refine their project ideas with the Future Screens NI team. This approach ensures projects align with funding criteria, saving time and effort.

Successful applicants will receive 75% of the funding upfront, with the remaining 25% provided upon project completion.

To get started, request an expression of interest form by emailing info-futurescreensni@ulster.ac.uk.
