News article

Explore global opportunities in the agri-tech sector

Innovate UK is inviting innovative UK businesses working on agri-tech solutions to apply for its Global Business Innovation Programme (GBIP) in Australia.

The programme is open to businesses developing technologies for efficient, sustainable, and profitable agriculture across livestock, crop, and horticultural sectors, including:

  • regenerative agriculture - soil health, pest management, cultivation
  • climate-smart agriculture - carbon capture, emissions reduction, resilient crops/livestock
  • robotics and automation - health monitoring, operations, harvesting
  • sensing technologies and artificial intelligence for resource efficiency
  • livestock and plant breeding, health, and nutrition

Why Australia?

Australia's agriculture industry, projected to reach $100 billion by 2030, provides a strong platform for UK businesses to engage with a growing market. The agri-tech and food-tech sectors are flourishing, with over 2500 enterprises, including 488 start-ups, supported by a collaborative culture and 15 incubators.

Businesses can tap into research and development partnerships with research bodies, universities, and innovation hubs. The visit will explore the Queensland agri-tech ecosystem and the evokeAG Conference, offering networking opportunities with key industry players from Australia and beyond.

  • attend preparatory workshops in the UK
