Heritage shopfronts to get a new lease of life with second round of funding

Following the success of its first call for applications, Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council is asking for further expressions of interest in its Heritage Shopfront Scheme.

The fund is supporting businesses located in Moira and Royal Hillsborough conservation areas to improve the appearance and condition of their shopfronts in ways that complement the ambience of these historic villages.

Scheme details

Successful applicants will receive a grant of up to 80% - maximum £12,500 (ex VAT).

You must demonstrate your contribution of a minimum 20% of the overall costs (ex VAT) has been paid.

Funding is available for the repair and replacement (where appropriate) of:

  • shop fronts (requiring full planning permission)
  • signage (requiring advertising consent)
  • lighting (may require full planning permission)
  • re-painting (may require listed building consent)
  • removal of wires etc
  • removal of inappropriate shutters or awnings

The deadline to submit an expression of interest is 5pm on Wednesday 26 July 2023.

Once received, these will be assessed and successful submissions will then be invited to complete a full application.
