New employer guidance on supporting autistic people
New Equality Commission guidance will help employers recognise and embrace the benefits that autistic people bring to the workplace.
According to the 2021 Census, there are currently over 35,000 people in Northern Ireland who identify as autistic. Many are in employment or are seeking employment.
This new guidance, published by the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland in partnership with the Autism Forum, Department of Health, and Department for Communities, will help employers recognise and embrace the many positive skills and abilities that autistic people can bring to the workplace.
