The SBRI Centre of Excellence has announced two new funding competitions offering a total of £700,000

These competitions aim to support innovative projects in Welsh agriculture and the regeneration of post-industrial sites in South Wales. UK-based businesses are invited to apply.

Agri-Food Technology Challenge Fund

This £500,000 competition is looking for solutions that improve efficiency, productivity, and sustainability across Wales' agriculture and food supply chains. The focus is on projects that support Net Zero goals and bring environmental benefits.

Up to ten projects will be funded, each receiving up to £50,000 (inclusive of VAT). Solutions can include AI adoption, waste reduction, soil management, and the development of new food products.

Regeneration of post-industrial sites in South Wales valleys

This £200,000 competition seeks innovative solutions to address climate change impacts on disused coal tips and other post-industrial sites in South Wales.

Up to four projects will be funded, with each receiving up to £50,000 (inclusive of VAT). Projects should focus on affordable and scalable ways to stabilise and secure these sites for community safety.

The deadline for applications to both competitions is 29 November 2024.

Both competitions are being managed through the Contracts for Innovation funding mechanism.
