Funding is available for innovative solutions around patient communications, ENT surgery and safe disposal of medical gases

Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) Centre of Excellence, hosted by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and funded by Welsh Government, has launched three new challenges in healthcare innovation.

Challenge 1: Patient communications

Up to £150,000 is available for the development of innovative solutions to help improve access to information for relatives of patients in hospital, and reduce the demand on staff time. Read more about the SBRI competition on patient communications.

Challenge 2: Improving ergonomics for surgeons performing ear surgery

Up to £100,000 is available for the development of innovative solutions that can reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) for surgeons performing endoscopic ear surgery. Read more about the SBRI competition looking to reduce MSDs in otological surgeons.

Challenge 3: Safe and ethical disposal of medical gases

Up to £250,000 is available to help develop and demonstrate innovative solutions for the safe disposal of nitrous oxide and Entonox medical gases. Read more about the SBRI competition on safe disposal of medical gases.

The deadline for all three competitions is Wednesday 14 December 2022.
