Grants of £500 up to £5,000 are available for successful applicants in 2024 

The Small Grants Scheme is now open for applications. It funds not-for-profit organisations focused on improving shared green spaces for the community and the environment. Successful applicants can receive grants from £500 to £5,000.

The Small Grants Scheme is funded by nine local councils and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. It is supported by Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful and the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs.

Scheme objectives

The scheme aims to:

  • increase civic pride and improve local environments 
  • transform underused areas into community spaces by improving accessibility
  • support projects aligned with Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful’s Strategic Plan
  • improve community health and wellbeing 
  • reduce littering and dog fouling 
  • encourage environmentally focused activities 

How to apply

To apply for the Small Grants Scheme 2024, review the Guidance Notes and submit your application by Tuesday 17 September 2024.

Support events

Connecting Communities events will take place in the nine partner council areas in August and September. This is a chance to meet other organisations in your area, share ideas for working together, and get some help with the Small Grant Scheme funding applications.
