New biotech funding from the EIC
Explore biotech funding at the UK briefing on 17 December 2024
The European Commission has approved the 2025 work programme of the European Innovation Council (EIC), offering over €1.4 billion in funding for strategic technologies and company growth.
The EIC offers three main funding programmes:
- EIC Pathfinder - for advanced research on breakthrough technologies
- EIC Transition - for turning research into innovation opportunities
- EIC Accelerator - for companies to develop and scale up breakthrough innovations
For businesses in biotechnology, two key topics are relevant:
- EIC Accelerator Challenge for biotechnology-driven, low-emission food and feed production systems
- EIC Pathfinder Challenge for biotech for climate-resilient crops and plant-based biomanufacturing
The Accelerator call is open until 1 October 2025. The Pathfinder call opens in spring 2025 until 29 October 2025.
