Construction Products Regulation in Northern Ireland

Introduction

Guide

The Construction Products Regulation (CPR) is a set of harmonised rules for the marketing of construction products in the European Union. CPR provides a common technical language to assess the performance of construction products. It ensures that reliable information is available to professionals, public authorities, and consumers, to compare the performance of products from different manufacturers in different countries.

The United Kingdom has left the EU. For as long as the Northern Ireland Protocol is in force, Northern Ireland will align with all relevant EU rules relating to the placement of manufactured goods on the market.

The guidance is aimed at businesses (manufacturers, importers, distributors, etc) planning to place or make goods available on the NI market after the transition period ends.

It explains the requirements for placing construction products on the NI market, and how provisions will work to ensure continued unrestricted access, for goods moving from NI to Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales).
