The National Living Wage is for workers aged 21 years old and above. It is currently set at £11.44 per hour for 2024-25.

The National Living Wage was extended to workers aged 21 years old and above from 1 April 2024. For further information, see minimum wage rates increase from 1 April 2024.

National Minimum Wage

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) applies to workers aged below 21 years old and there are a number of different bands of hourly rate:

  • NMW for 18-20 years old: £8.60
  • NMW for 16-17 years old: £6.40
  • NMW for apprentices: £6.40
